Hope ' s Dream Rescue and Sanctuary is a small but mighty animal rescue that does big things for local animals in need . Made up entirely of volunteers in Centre and Clinton counties , this passionate rescue group makes sure every dollar donated goes directly to the animals they help . Becoming a nonprofit in 2018 , Hope ' s was formed by president Lesa King to give a voice to the voiceless , after seeing the heartbreaking amount of animals discarded and failed by humans . She also runs the sanctuary part of Hope ' s Dream Rescue from her personal home , which is the forever home for many special needs animals .
Hope ' s is a foster-based rescue , meaning adoptable animals are not kept in crates . Animals are instead acclimated to indoor home life and better prepared for all that comes with being part of a family . Animals come to Hope ' s as owner surrenders , found or injured strays , and from abuse or neglect cases .
While Hope ' s focuses mainly on rescuing cats , the occasional dog finds its way to the rescue group , as well as other animals in need . Hope ' s tries to help any animal that needs them , whether by taking it in to a foster home , or by providing other resources to help .
Hope ' s Dream Rescue is also passionate about working to combat the growing population of homeless cats through their TNR ( Trap-Neuter-Return ) efforts . Volunteers provide instruction to local residents on trapping stray and feral cats and provide clinic spaces for spay or neuter . At the time of surgery , cats are also vaccinated and given an ear tip to identify them as altered .
Volunteers have held countless animals as they have crossed the rainbow bridge . Animals no one else cared enough to help . Animals that have never felt love and compassion until the very end . This is motivation for volunteers to work even harder at slowing the rate at which kittens are born homeless .
The volunteers of Hope ' s are not afraid to get their hands dirty , working hard to personally provide hands on trapping and transporting , and have been known to crawl in or under structures to rescue kittens without hesitation .
