Under the guidance of captains Katie Owens , Brooklyn Goldy , and Xian Deems , along with members Coralene Svec , Eleanor Hanna , Ava Tarantella , Josie Crawford , and Piper Grimes , the team showcased their literary prowess . Despite a tied match against Shanksville-Stonycreek Middle School in the first round and a narrow loss to St . These dedicated students immersed themselves in a list of 30 books selected by the Reading Competition Committee . Notably , Katie Owens and Sophia Corrales distinguished themselves by mastering the majority of the reading list , with Katie mastering 20 books and Sophia mastering all 30 ! CMMS extends its gratitude to Reading Competition coaches Morgan Fogel and Leslie Brown , as well as the invaluable volunteers whose support contributed to the success of the teams . Their selfless commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for reading is truly commendable . As champions and runnersup , Central Mountain Middle School has not only brought pride to their school but has also exemplified the power of teamwork , dedication , and a shared love for literature .
