Facing off against approximately 20 formidable teams in the Middle School Division , CMMS showcased their literary prowess with two competing teams : the Wandering Readers and the Master Minds .
The Wandering Readers emerged as the undeniable champions , clinching the Grand Champion title along with first place . Throughout the competition , they demonstrated exceptional skill , accumulating an impressive final score of 55 points . Guided by the leadership of captains Amelia Svederus , Sophia Corrales , and Andrew Wolfe , the team soared through each round with unwavering determination . Comprised of Kenzi Boyle , Britlyn Sprout , Addyson Peters , Adriana Serafini , and Evelyn Albright , the Wandering Readers triumphed over Central Cambria Middle School , Williamsburg Community Middle School , and West Branch Middle School in consecutive rounds , displaying their depth of knowledge and teamwork .
Meanwhile , the Master Minds secured a commendable second place , amassing 44 points throughout the competition . Under the guidance of captains Katie Owens , Brooklyn Goldy , and Xian Deems , along with members Coralene Svec , Eleanor Hanna , Ava Tarantella , Josie Crawford , and Piper Grimes , the team showcased their literary prowess . Despite a tied match against Shanksville-Stonycreek Middle School in the first round and a narrow loss to St . Nicholas Catholic School in the second , they rebounded triumphantly with a resounding victory against Forest Hills Middle School in the third round .
These dedicated students immersed themselves in a list of 30 books selected by the Reading Competition Committee . Notably , Katie Owens and Sophia Corrales distinguished themselves by mastering the majority of the reading list , with Katie mastering 20 books and Sophia mastering all 30 ! CMMS extends its gratitude to Reading Competition coaches Morgan Fogel and Leslie Brown , as well as the invaluable volunteers whose support contributed to the success of the teams . Their selfless commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for reading is truly commendable . As champions and runnersup , Central Mountain Middle School has not only brought pride to their school but has also exemplified the power of teamwork , dedication , and a shared love for literature . Congratulations to all participants on their remarkable achievements .
