In 1983 , Dwain Bower had an idea - he had worked for others for years - now he wanted to create his own friendly , family owned tire company . So he bought an old lumber yard in Cement Hollow and opened his shop , selling a tire new to the area ... he literally built his business on the treads of Cooper Tires . Now , 41 years later , Dwain ' s dream continues , with daughter , Denise , and sons , Doug and Cork , in charge .
