MOBILE AGRICULTURE EDUCATION SCIENCE LAB VISITS SALLADASBURG ELEMENTARY
Students were very excited for the opportunity to have the Mobile Agriculture Education Science Lab come to Salladasburg Elementary School from April 10th -14th . The lab is a 40-foot mobile classroom that travels across the state of Pennsylvania , bringing an interactive field trip style experience directly to schools and students in grades K-8 . The Mobile Ag Lab is equipped with over 30 STEM-based science experiments and lessons , a certified teacher , and the supplies needed for a hands-on learning experience . Each science experiment is designed to emphasize a different aspect of agriculture , including Pennsylvania ’ s commodities , the environment , biotechnology , food , and fiber . While performing multiple experiments , our students worked cooperatively to solve problems , form their hypotheses , collect data , and draw conclusions , while focusing on the scientific method . Each lesson on the Mobile Ag Lab focused on increasing student knowledge on the importance of agriculture and its impact on their daily lives .
FBLA GIVES TOURS TO EIGHTH GRADERS by Maggie Johnson , grade 10
Recently , members of FBLA from our high school gave student tours to the 8th graders from our middle school . The students walked the eighth graders around our high school , and showed them all of our Career and Technical Education ( CTE ) classes . They set up activities for the eighth graders to try and students who partake in the CTE classes got to help . It was a chance for the middle school students to see what CTE programs are offered , as well as talk to students currently in the CTE program .
When the middle school students arrived at the high school , they were split into smaller groups to make it easier for them to navigate around the school and rotate through the CTE classes . Each teacher of the CTE class gave students a rundown of the class . Some of the middle school students ' favorite classes were the culinary arts class , automotive , and the hands-on activities in those programs .
Mrs . Mallory Myers , guidance counselor , picked a handful of high schoolers who she thought had special and unique experiences to share during their years of high school with the middle schoolers . Students chosen , Arianna Milbrand , Denver Shobert , Troy Burkholder , Alison Bilbay , and Maggie Johnson , all gave different speeches on what was so unique about their experiences during high school . Overall , the eighth grade tours were a great opportunity for the middle school students to get a look at the CTE programs offered , which will help them choose career paths when they enter high school .
