Clayton Trutor picked five first-rate Rhode Island players . That ’ s fine . And I ’ m not knocking anyone on the list . But make it a baseball number : Make it nine ! I grew up in Warwick and had the chance to see our very own Bill Almon play . He was a phenomenal ballplayer and spent fourteen years in the majors ! The number one pick in the U . S . in the 1974 draft ! Bill had a great career , and ought to be on the list of great Rhody big leaguers . I ’ d add Clem Labine , and more recently , Chris Iannetta and slugger Paul Konerk . Just my two cents .

As a longtime subscriber and born and raised in Rhode Island , I was disappointed to not see CAV Restaurant in Providence listed in your “ Best Brunches ” article . Whenever I return to the Ocean State , it is one of my first stops . The atmosphere is unique and comfortable with great and innovative bar drinks . The Saturday and Sunday brunch is truly the BEST . How do you beat the CAV brioche French toast or Maine lobster and eggs and Thai chili cream sauce ? You just don ’ t ! A must-stop ! Love keeping up with Little Rhody by way of Rhode Island Monthly .
