Photographer Corey Favino nailed the June cover shot at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown by scaling the rocky outcroppings down to the sand , then blowing up his inflatable paddleboard . He launched his drone into the sky and waded out into the deep while the camera captured the image from above . Favino has worked with Discover Newport doing photo and video work as well as independent coastal adventure-themed brand work . He ’ s always up for adventure ; he even has a tattoo and a license plate that say so .
It ’ s a good thing contributing writer John Taraborelli knows how to write , because he says he is capable of little else . He attempts to rectify that shortcoming in this issue [“ Ready for Anything ”] by taking crash courses in some of the essential life skills that he somehow managed not to learn in his previous four decades . Taraborelli lives in Providence with his wife , two stepchildren , three pets and several home improvement projects for which he is remarkably unprepared .
Author and contributor Ann Hood lived life as a sassy flight attendant in the 1970s and finally published a book about her adventures this year [ Fly Girl excerpt ]. “ People always perk up when I say I was a flight attendant , so I ’ ve been thinking it might make for a good book ,” she says . “ The pandemic proved the perfect time to relive my flying days since I was totally earthbound .” Hood is also the author of The Knitting Circle and The Book That Matters Most . �
