The Sun lives in Nerja
When they first lived in Nerja about 15 years ago , Andrew Ruffhead told his wife Sarah of a poster he had seen in the past around Nerja , with the slogan on it saying ‘ The sun lives in Nerja ’. They tried everywhere to find one , looking online and contacting the Town Hall , etc . All to no avail . Andrew also said that years ago there used to be a sticker form of the slogan in the window of Autos Nerja in Calle Cruz . Just before Christmas through a Spanish friend who lives in the same village ( Maro ), they met a man called Antonio Montesino who works at the Museum in Nerja . They told him the story , and he said he would try and find out more .
He found an old black and white photo - see below , of the Viajes Torromolinos , which was in Calle Cruz . This was the first travel agency in Nerja , and it was opened in the 1960s . This was owned by a man called Pepe Angel Santiago , and he created the famous slogan !
Autos Nerja office is in the building where the travel agency once was , hence there being a sticker still in the window , all those years ago …

Andrew will be having an exhibition of his work next Easter in the museum .
He does lots of colourful art which he sells as prints , and has also done prints of Nerja , Maro ( a large one of this is on display in the Town Hall ), Frigiliana and Torrox Pueblo .
Merendero 34 in Torrox have just bought five large size ( A1 ) colourful prints to put up in the restaurant , and there are several there to buy as well …
