October 2015 Every Life is Worth Living By: Anna Jouandot The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announces its 2015-16 Respect Life Program: “EVERY LIFE IS WORTH LIVING,” beginning with Respect Life Sunday, October 4, 2015 and continuing through September 2016. Our bishops remind us that each and every life is a good and perfect gift, held in existence by God’s love, and is to be respected from conception to natural death. Whether the person is elderly and quickly deteriorating, an unborn infant diagnosed with Down Syndrome, someone facing terminal cancer, or an unwed mother, God invites us to embrace the lives we have been given. He is with us every step of the way, giving us the grace we need to persevere each day with love and trust in his divine plan. Therefore, let us embrace each person we meet today, no matter his or her condition or personal situation in life, knowing that “Every Life is Worth Living” because each and every human being has been created and uniquely made in God’s image. During the first three weekends of October, you may pick up free pamphlets provided by the USCCB on different life issues from the table on the left side of the vestibule in the church. We also invite you to Campaign (September 23 through November participate in the 40 1) which is three fold: Days for Life 1 - Prayer—pray the “Prayer to End Abortion” each day (you may pick up a prayer card from the vestibule of the church) 2 - Fast—give up a snack or T.V. program each day 3 - Action—our parish has signed up to keep a prayerful vigil at the abortion facility, Causeway Medical Center, 3044 Ridgelake Drive in Metairie, on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. We need two people per hour to fill the day from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Please contact Anna A. Jouandot, Respect Life 7 Heavenly Father, thank you for the precious gift of life. Help us to cherish and protect this gift, even in the midst of fear, pain, and suffering. Give us love for all people, especially the most
