Good Stewards Know Life Is Awesome Because
God Is Awesome
I am sad. I have no energy. I feel
emotionally empty. Why? Because a few
hours before I started writing this, my sister,
Kathleen, died. Thanks be to God, I was
there and gave her Last Rites.
Kathleen and I were not close as
children. Nor were we close as young adults.
However, during the past 20 years she and I
got very close. So, her loss drains me.
Kathleen was denied many of the
pleasures most of us experience. She had
many reasons to feel deprived. By contrast,
my sister, Claudette, and I were blessed in
many ways Kathleen was not. Despite her
deprivations, though, Kathleen was always a
giver. She constantly chose to be Christ-like.
Kathleen was always willing to sacrifice
herself for others. It was she who waited on
my mother, hand and foot, 24-hours-a-day, in
mom’s declining years And, God bless,
Kathleen did have treasures in her life. She
was blessed with two beautiful and intelligent
daughters, four handsome and intelligent
grandsons and two cute as buttons and bright
as the sun granddaughters. Therefore, in
recognition of Kathleen’s immense love for
Relatives of Fr. Mike, From l. to r.: Kathleen

children, I tell you in her honor what the students of
a fifth grade class told their teacher. They said the
following is what they had learned about God from
TV commercials. I have sure belief Kathleen is
now in heaven and knows it’s all true.
