June 2015 Honoring VOL Altar Servers At Visitation of Our Lady, altar servers are appreciated. They serve at Masses, Stations of the Cross, and other liturgical events, which are sometimes very long or take place at late hours. Altar servers are very committed to their ministry and serve reverently, even during long or late events. As a special thank you, the St. Thomas More Council of the Knights of Columbus treats our altar servers to an annual luncheon at the parish rectory. The children enjoy seeing the priests’ home and being able to visit with them in an informal setting. Altar servers earn points for serving, and those who earned 100 or more points for the year were recently treated to a trip to the Blue Bayou/Dixie Landin’ Amusement Park in Baton Rouge. The students spent the day enjoying lots of fun in the sun, then ended the trip with a visit to CiCi’s Pizza.
