Good Steward? Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is!
This past April Visitation of Our Lady kicked off
its Stewardship Campaign by honoring first responders in
our community. The response was phenomenal! This fall
parishioners will have another opportunity to practice good
stewardship for a great cause.
One of our parishioners, Dr. Maria Burmaster, is
the State Chair of a wonderful organization, the Louisiana
Mission of Mercy program. This organization, also known
as LaMOM, is a charitable organization that partners with
dentists and dental associations to bring dental care to
people who have limited financial resources or are
otherwise unable to visit a dental office. Dental Clinics are
offered once per year in various cities throughout the state.
In 2015 the LaMOM clinic was held in Baton
Rouge with almost 1,000 volunteers from across the state
serving 1,500 people in only two days. The total cost of
volunteered services was valued at $1,008,389. As you can
imagine patients were very thankful to have such a
valuable service brought to their community. This year
their mission of mercy will be held this fall at the Alario
Center in Westwego.
