Benjamin Franklin once said, “By failing to
prepare, you are p reparing to fail.” These words of
wisdom can apply to families, businesses, and even
churches. In order to grow, we must take time to
reflect on what we’re doing well and what things can
be improved. We’ll get a chance to help the
Archdiocese of New Orleans do just that next month.
Archbishop Aymond has called the Ninth
General Synod of the Archdiocese of New Orleans to
discern God’s vision and priorities for our local Church
for the next several years. A Synod is simply a
gathering of people reflecting on a topic, then sharing
their ideas.
Visitation of Our Lady Parish will host the
West Bank session of the Synod on Thursday, August
21 at 6:30 pm in Padre Hall II. Everyone on the West
Bank is invited to attend.
Participants will be asked to reflect on 3
questions concerning the Archdiocese, then share
their responses (either verbally or in writing.)
Archbishop Aymond will listen to participants, and the
Synod Leadership Team will be taking notes.
Participants will also have an opportunity to complete
surveys which will be collected at the end of the
Synod and reviewed by the Archbishop and Synod
Leadership Team.
The Synod is a perfect opportunity for
Catholics to express their needs, expectations, and
aspirations regarding the Archdiocese, and to play an
integral part of its future. Come and share your
thoughts and suggestions about what the
Archdiocese is doing well and what it can do better.
