Having Trouble Giving Up Things for Lent ? Here are some alternatives :
What are you giving up for Lent ? It ’ s a question we tend to get asked every year , one that we probably don ’ t spend much time thinking about . Many people decide on a type of food or drink , social media , or television . Not an easy task by any means .
During our 40 day “ fast ” from whatever we give up , we should be thinking about how Christ gave up his life for us . But some of us , though we try hard , have a very difficult time with keeping our Lenten fast . We may get discouraged and throw in the towel , thereby missing a great opportunity to grow and get to know Christ better .

Many of us seem to be in a constant struggle with clutter . Piles of mail that need sorting , clothes that need folding , closets that need cleaning out - whew ! Just the thought of it is overwhelming !
Just like our homes , our lives can become cluttered with things like appointments , shopping , texting , or special events . This clutter can sometimes interfere with spiritual lives and push us away from Christ . We can ’ t let that happen .

Challenge is the perfect way to declutter our homes ( or offices , cars , garages ), and , ultimately , our lives , so we can focus more on the things we love most . While we sort out our stuff and begin to get rid of things that serve us no purpose , we can think about other aspects of our lives that perhaps need decluttering !

Visitation of Our Lady School Names Emmit Scobel as Student of the Year
Fifth grader Emmet Scobel has been selected to represent Visitation of Our Lady School in the statewide Student of the Year competition .
He was chosen based on excellent academic achievement , standardized test scores , leadership ability , and citizenship . Emmet will now advance to the State level , and if selected , will compete at Regional level .
The competition is sponsored by the Louisiana State Superintendent through the State Department of Education .
