FEBRUARY 2016 Celebrating Catholic Schools Week Visitation of Our Lady School recently celebrated Catholic Schools Week. Activities were planned for each day of the week centering around the theme: "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service." The week began with a special Mass and skit performed by members of the school's Student Council and HALO Club. The theme of service was highlighted as students were asked to perform random acts of kindness for others during the week. Older students were paired with younger students to create banners displaying the theme of service. The school collected toiletries for the Harry Tompson Center, an organization that assists the homeless in New Orleans. The goal of providing 50 toiletry bags to commemorate the school's fiftieth anniversary was more than tripled due to the generosity of the parents and students. The week ended with the school's choir performing at Lakeside Shopping Center for the Catholic Schools Arts and Music Festival. Older students were paired with younger students to create banners displaying the theme of service.
