Ione Villars (right) has retired from the role of Choir Director at VOL after over 12 years of service. Music Matriarchs Retire VOL Parish has been blessed to have had two highly-respected women lead its Music Ministry over the last decade. Unfortunately for VOL, they have traded their reigns for retirement from the VOL Adult Choir. Cecilia Miller has been VOL’s music director for over 15 years. Through the years she lead the choir through practices for masses, concerts, fundraisers, community performances, and more. Retirement will offer Cecilia more time to spend with family and loved ones. Ione Villars has been volunteering as the Choir Director for about 12 years, when she was recruited by Cecilia. Ione will take advantage of her retirement by diving into some of her favorite hobbies, like gardening and genealogy. She also plans to do some volunteer work. Cecilia and Ione brought decades of musical expertise to VOL, and they will truly be missed. We wish them many blessings in their retirement! Congratulations Cecilia and Ione! Meet VOL’s New Music Director, Clark Knighten Clark Knighten has been around the block a time or two. And good thing, too, because he has some pretty big shoes to fill. Clark is taking over the reigns for the VOL Music Ministry as Music Director. He will be responsible for coordinating the Adult Choir and planning music and song for Masses and other Liturgical events. It seems like a tall order, but he is well qualified to sit in the driver’s seat. Clark has been involved in music ministry since age 4, and began directing his first choir at age 14. He has served as Music Director for several churches over the past several years, each one offering unique experiences and opportunities for growth. Clark is also a music promoter and producer and serves as a casting assistant for extras in the film industry. He teaches music at the Academy of Our Lady High School, and, of course, he is a very talented musician and singer. While at VOL, Clark hopes to share his music expertise with others, and to take advantage of a wonderful opportunity for self-growth. Stop by and introduce yourself after Mass this weekend. Clark wants to know our parishioners. And, if you have an interest in joining the choir, please let him know! Welcome Clark!
