I set out to apply , enrich and write about these angelic connections , developing a system of support for visualization , positive prayer , healing , prosperity , and personal empowerment . As I went about this work , something even more fascinating emerged : I observed that each archangel had close convergences with certain ancient goddesses . We often think of angels as churchy , but it turns out that their roots reach back to traditions that predate organized religion , to a time when healers and spiritual guides were usually women .
For instance , Archangel Michael is inextricably entwined with Tibetan warrior goddess Simhamuka , Archangel Gabriel with Virgen Mary-Tonantzin , and Zadkiel with Isis and the Mayan Ixchel . The system I was archangelic system I was developing actually resonated with similar practices that in very ancient times had been used around the world , before geological catastrophes and warrior groups all but erased them from the face of the earth .
From Africa to China and Perú , certain feminine archetypes reappear and support everything from healing , to beauty , compassion , manifestation , and the most transcendent of all universal goals -to awaken the light body .
It ’ s safe to say that a significant percentage of adherents to New Age spirituality are women . In fact , it was women that in the late 1800 ’ s were central pioneers of what is now a worldwide movement . As we discover our inner power , it ’ s not like we ’ re sitting around waiting to be told that this path is exciting and that we ’ re amazing light beings . We are living the experience ourselves . However , to know that women teachers and healers were once universally revered , that female archetypes were vital to ancient pantheons , and that thousands of years ago women had an edge on connections with light beings is somehow strengthening . As I explain in my book , confidence is central to developing our subtle gifts . It ’ s not just a feeling , it ’ s an energy that deepens the power of our prayers , accelerates our healing and improves the results of our intentional manifestations . And confidence is one of many areas that angels help us reinforce .
To speak of feminine empowerment isn ’ t to disparage men . Ancient cultures appreciated the value of both feminine and masculine . In fact , some ancient goddesses carry a mix of both . Archeologists say that the most ancient deities were feminine felines . Egypt has lions , China tigers in China and the American continent , jaguars . Wildcats are formidable hunters , particularly the females . Feline goddesses combine the protective instinct and love of a mother , with the physical prowess and dominion associated with the masculine . They roam the shadows of the energy realms , hunting out and eliminating parasitical energies and freeing us from spiritual and material limitation .
Blue Simhamukha , a pre-Buddhist goddess , is depicted as a woman with a lion ’ s face . Besides her color , her convergences with Archangel Michael are too many for mere coincidence . To mention just a few : like Michael with his sword , the goddesses wields a copper knife . Both weapons are used to cut away undesirable energy and cut through accumulated , dense vibrations that sometimes trap us in limiting appearances , such as insecurity , fear , sadness , illness or lack . Michael protects portals between dimensions , including graveyards ;
