It’ s clear to see she is tireless in her efforts to protect and enhance the oral health of all Pennsylvanians by improving access to care.

PDA RECOGNITION AWARD

DR. HYERAN HELEN JEON
Thank you again for this meaningful award and for recognizing the importance of serving our most vulnerable communities. I’ m honored and inspired to continue my work.
The real reason I stayed though surrounds the idea of family. My immediate family – my parents and older sisters – fully supported me in pursuing my passion for education, and ultimately the family I was welcomed into at Penn Oral Medicine, with some of my mentors who you may know – Dr. Thomas Sollecito and Dr. Eric Stoopler – encouraged me in my passion for oral medicine and education. From there, my family grew to my organized dentistry family, from ASDA to transitioning into practice being involved at all levels of the tripartite.
I would be remiss not to mention how grateful I am to the fellow leaders I serve with at Philadelphia County Dental Society, our Executive Assistant Lisa Gottlieb, who I would not be standing up here today without; all of the leaders within Pennsylvania Dental Association that I have worked with, so many of you in the audience who have mentored, guided and supported me to travel all across the country, not only educating the next generation of dentists but also to you all. Thank you to the PDA Annual Awards Committee as well for this honor, and I promise to carry it with me throughout my profession. Hopefully my free spirit will continue to make people smile and educate the next generation – thank you so much!
The 2025 Recognition Award presentation took place on March 19 at the Dean’ s Suite at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Outgoing president Dr. Limberakis presented the award to Dr. Jeon.

Dr. Jeon’ s acceptance remarks:
It is truly an honor and privilege to receive the Pennsylvania Dental Association Recognition Award. This recognition is especially meaningful to me, as it highlights contributions that significantly advance the science and art of dentistry and orthodontics— a goal I have passionately pursued throughout my career.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Pennsylvania Dental Association for this prestigious award, as well as to my colleagues, students and mentors whose support and inspiration have guided my journey. I look forward to continuing my contributions to our field and collaborating with colleagues dedicated to advancing dental medicine and orthodontics.
