Impressions
As we look to the rest of summer and fall and the restrictions go away , concerts are back on the schedule , college and pro football are preparing for full stadiums and even Broadway is ready to turn the lights back on in New York . Will you be required to wear and mask at these and other events ? Who knows ? Maybe if you are vaccinated the answer will be “ no .” I imagine there will still be fans who CHOOSE to wear a mask and that is fine . What doesn ’ t appear to be changing anytime soon ( at least not until Sept . 13 at the earliest ), is wearing a mask in airports and on planes or public transportation . If that remains the case , then I believe you just follow the rules and try not to buck them . I hear about these mask confrontations and just can ’ t understand why it is such a big deal , but maybe that ’ s the dentist in me since I have been wearing a mask every day since dental school !
So as we get into the dog days of summer , enjoy your return to normalcy and the freedom to go maskless and enjoy seeing people ’ s faces and their smiles again . ( And just when we started to recognize people with a mask on !) I can assure you I will enjoy all the milestone celebrations in July and look forward to being together once again with my loved ones , including my mom who I haven ’ t seen since January 2020 . Hope to “ see ” you all again soon !

P . S . – I would to take a line on behalf of the entire team who puts the magazine together to thank Dr . Gulia Omene for her time serving as our associate editor the last few years . Her input and perspective have been much appreciated and we all wish her the best .
P . P . S . – By now many of you may have heard that our former CFO , Leo Walchak , passed away unexpectedly on June 27 , just a couple weeks after his 62 nd birthday . Leo served PDA for 13 years and worked closely with me when I was treasurer and president , as well as working closely with the treasurers that followed me , Drs . Don Hoffman , Sam Selcher and Nicole Quezada . Our sympathy goes to his wife Donna and his family . Rest In Peace my friend !
