Dr . Jay Freedman :
Candidate for ADA Second Vice President
Our own Dr . Jay Freedman is a candidate for ADA Second Vice President . Dr . Freedman is a lifelong resident of southeastern Pennsylvania , where he currently lives in an empty nest with Susan , his wife of nearly 40 years .
Dr . Freedman is a graduate of Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry , and in addition to private practice , he has been a faculty member and mentor at the Abington-Jefferson GPR since 1989 and a leader in the yearly development and execution of the Greater Philadelphia Valley Forge Dental Conference .

“ I went from card carrying member to active leadership not quite 20 years ago , when a friend asked me to chair a committee at the local level ,” Dr . Freedman said . “ Recognizing all the good I could do propelled me to embrace additional roles and responsibilities .”
Among his leadership roles , Dr . Freedman has served as President of the Montgomery-Bucks Dental Society and Valley Forge Dental Society and as Chair of the ADA Council on Membership . He has been very active in MOM-n-PA since the beginning of the mission and has been the Lead in Radiology since 2013 ; initiated a partnership with Abington Township ’ s Police Athletic League to engage the youth community through Give Kids a Smile ; and with Montgomery County ’ s Veterans Affairs office to create Give Vets a Smile , which was featured in the ADA News .
“ With PDA , I have been a part of the Membership Committee and a participant on the Council of Presidents ,” Dr . Freedman said . “ On the national level , I have and am serving as an ADA Delegate to the yearly governance meeting , where I have authored and co-authored resolutions that have had significant national impact to the practice of dentistry . And I have served on the ADA ’ s Council on Membership , where we created policy to assist in the financial stabilization of our organization , simplified the membership process and worked to engage all dentists .”
“ I have even been called to appear on TV news as an ‘ ADA expert ’ during the COVID-19 lockdowns ,” he added .
When not doing dentistry , Dr . Freedman enjoys hiking with his wife , Vlogging , reading , cooking and traveling . His family has suddenly expanded , with the addition of a new granddaughter to keep her two-year-old older brother busy .
“ Dentistry has been very good to me and fulfilling as a profession ,” he said . “ I want to ensure that the opportunities will continue to exist and grow for generations to come !”
