The Special Ones define It…..” These words still linger in our thoughts and affect everything we plan or want to achieve - COVID 19. Every person in Australia and the world has been affect by this pandemic but let us look at the other side of the coin. When I see a glass that is half filled, I see a glass that is half full, not a glass that is half empty. We have the power to make our thoughts positive and show everyone around us that life is a wonderful experience. Remember, we only get to play the ‘life’ game once and ‘by crikey’, I am going to enjoy it until. So, let us look at the positives of being in lockdown: 1. Spend lots of family time 2. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, so won’t it be great when we can play with our friends 3. Lots of time to play ‘ponies’ 4. Play board games and old-fashioned games 5. Reintroduce to our young people the art of conversation 6. Remember that we love our ponies and love riding, without the pressure of being judged or pressuring our ponies to perform at levels that they are not ready for 7. Clean the tack room (personally, I haven’t found time for that yet) 8. Learn how to use technology, ZOOM, email, skype etc. 9. Read that book or magazines that you have owned for many years 10. Experiment with cooking, renovating, creating 11. Plan your upcoming horse schedules 12. Wow, I’m exhausted and my mind keeps finding more things to do Now it is time to start preparing for our immediate future and what a great time to do it, as winter is here and I can see spring on the horizon. THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO: 1. Affiliate Shows 2. Clinics 3. Nationals in November 4. Friends to ride with 5. Foals 6. Travelling interstate 7. Showing my ‘Scattergories’, ‘Yahtzee’, ‘Jenga’, ‘ Pictionary’ skills Remember, there is plenty of support out there, keep in touch with family and friends and Stay Safe, Stay Home (where possible), Stay in Touch and we will all get through this. And remember handwashing and hand sanitizer and social distancing will be your best friend. Until next time, happy riding and stay safe Cheers Leonie AQHA Amateur Div president AUSTRALIAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION - www.aqha.com.au
