A Tribute to Camille Kostelac-Cherry, Esq.
“
Camille Kostelac-Cherry became the
Chief Executive Officer of the
Pennsylvania Dental Association
shortly after I was appointed Editor
of the association’s Journal. I got to
know Camille through our participation
in the meetings of the Board of
Trustees as well as in conversations
at the functions surrounding those
meetings. It quickly became apparent
that she was not only a ‘quick study’
of the issues and concerns of the
association leadership, but that her
input and comments were valuable
contributions to the board’s
deliberations.
“
The first time I met Camille I was a
member of the selection committee
searching for a new CEO of the PDA.
At her interview Camille was prepared
and impressive and was offered the
position. Over the years, her integrity,
knowledge and hard work always
served PDA and its member dentists.
PDA will forever be indebted to
Camille for her many years of
dedication to organized dentistry
in Pennsylvania and on the
national level.
Camille made so many friends at
PDA, and it is with our cherished
friendship in mind that we offer
our love, respect and best wishes
to Camille and her family.”
Dr. Joseph Donato
“
I have never worked with a more
professional individual than Camille.
Her commitment to the profession of
dentistry and wisdom on how to
always position us in the best
possible light, regardless of the
circumstance, always amazed me.
She was and always will be a very
special friend and mentor to me.”
Dr. Herb Ray
PDA President 2016-2017
“
I was on the committee to interview
and hire a new CEO for the PDA. In
walks Camille…we were the only
two females in the room. After just a
few minutes, it was obvious to me
who we would choose. Were we
lucky that she chose us! Very few
human beings could put up with all
of us dentists. Yes, we have our quirks
and oddities, but she kept a smile on
her face through all of it. If only we
could have read her mind through all
those years…now that would be a
best seller!”

Through the last many years, my
respect and admiration for Camille
have deepened. She has had a loyal
and devoted staff and her reputation
among countless members has assured
her of our lifelong gratitude for her
service. At a time when women
struggle to balance careers and family
life, Camille seems to have ‘done it all.’
She has been a consummate Association
Director and I have known her to be
a devoted wife, mother and daughter.
I join the leaders and all the members
of the Pennsylvania Dental Association
in wishing Camille a happy and
exciting retirement.”
Dr. Judith McFadden
“
Very few people have dedicated and
committed so much of their time and
talent to another profession other
than the one in which they were
trained. This genuine professional
calling, while unquestionably
extraordinary, excellent and
commendable, pales in comparison
to Camille’s friendship.”
