Amid rising antisemitism in Palm Beach
County and across the country and globe , a sold-out crowd of more than 175 attorneys , judges , elected officials and area leaders of different religious backgrounds joined together for an inspiring Passover Unity Seder at Manatee Lagoon on Monday , April 29 , 2024 . The event , a remarkable partnership of nine diverse Palm Beach County Legal Bar Associations and emceed by former Florida Bar President Gary Lesser , was sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County . Guests participated in a traditional Seder meal with a service jointly led by Rabbi Ryan Daniels of Temple Israel West Palm Beach and Rev . Kevin Jones , Coordinator of Community Initiatives at the West Palm Beach Police Department , to honor the Jewish holiday of Passover , the story of the ancient Jews ' exodus from slavery in Egypt . The event , which initially started more than a decade ago but had been on hiatus , was brought back based on resounding consensus of a need for unity , particularly since the war in Israel began on Oct . 7 . The Bar Associations who partnered for this evening included F . Malcolm Cunningham Sr . Loggerhead Marinelife Center as the May sponsor of its Blue Friends Society Self-Guided Public Beach Cleanups . The sponsorship will help LMC continue to provide supplies necessary for public beach cleanups as part of its ocean conservation efforts . On the morning of Saturday , May 11 , Jones Foster employees and guests gathered at Loggerhead Park in Juno Beach to pick up trash and plastic littering the shore that could prove harmful to marine life , including our local nesting sea turtles .
