Building Momentum in Senate District 34:

A Successful Fundraiser for Andrés Carrera

By Liz Tennyson

AAMD In partnership with David Thomson from Kairoi Residential, hosted a highly successful fundraiser in support of Andrés Carrera ' s campaign for Colorado State Senate District 34. The event brought together multifamily housing professionals, business leaders, and residents from SD34 for an evening of meaningful discussion and engagement, reflecting the strong momentum behind Carrera ' s candidacy in one of Colorado ' s most competitive and consequential legislative races.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from Andrés about his vision for Colorado and his commitment to addressing the state ' s housing challenges through practical, collaborative solutions. Throughout his campaign, Carrera has emphasized the importance of expanding housing opportunities, increased affordability, and supporting policies that encourage investment in Colorado ' s communities— priorities that closely align with AAMD ' s mission to ensure that residents have access to quality rental housing across the state.
The evening also highlighted the strong and longstanding partnership between Andrés and AAMD. Over the years, Andrés has worked closely with the multifamily housing industry to better understand the challenges facing housing providers and renters alike. Through ongoing collaboration, he has demonstrated a willingness to engage with stakeholders, listen to concerns, and pursue balanced solutions that help lower housing costs, expand housing supply, and strengthen Colorado ' s rental housing market.

One of the most valuable aspects of the fundraiser was the opportunity for attendees to engage in direct conversations with Andrés. Industry professionals were able to share their perspectives, discuss policy priorities, and ask questions about issues affecting both the multifamily industry and their personal lives.
Although Andrés Carrera did not advance in the Senate District 34 primary election, AAMD appreciated the opportunity to support his campaign and engage members throughout the election cycle. As Senate District 34 remains an important district for Colorado housing policy, the Association continues to value opportunities to work with candidates and elected officials who are committed to thoughtful, practical solutions to the state ' s housing challenges.
The success of the fundraiser reflected the multifamily industry ' s strong commitment to civic engagement and to fostering meaningful conversations with candidates on issues affecting rental housing. The event provided members with the opportunity to connect directly with Andrés, discuss industry priorities, and reinforce the importance of collaboration between policymakers and the housing community.
