SVRCS FFA Team Wins State Environmental and Natural Resources CDE Championship
Congratulations to the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School FFA Environmental and Natural Resources Career Development Event( CDE) team of Kohana Yamashita, Harper Tressler, Evie Andrus, and Wyatt Conoway for winning the Pennsylvania State Environmental and Natural Resources CDE Championship!
With their state victory, the team earned the opportunity to represent Pennsylvania at the National FFA Environmental and Natural Resources CDE in Indianapolis, Indiana, in late October.
The competition was a two-day event that tested students ' knowledge and skills in environmental science and natural resource management. On the first day, team members competed in individual categories, with two students participating in Aquatics and two students competing in Wildlife. On the second day, all four students worked together in a challenging team competition that combined their knowledge and problem-solving abilities.
The team also achieved outstanding individual results:
• Kohana Yamashita won the State Aquatics CDE, marking the first state Aquatics championship in school history.
• Harper Tressler earned an impressive 7th-place finish in Aquatics.
• Wyatt Conoway placed 3rd in the Wildlife CDE.
• Evie Andrus placed 4th in the Wildlife CDE.
These accomplishments reflect the hard work, dedication, and expertise of the students as they prepared for competition.
Congratulations to Kohana, Harper, Evie, Wyatt, and all of the other students who represented SVRCS at the state competition. We are proud of your achievements and wish the team the best of luck as they prepare to compete on the national stage in Indianapolis this fall.
Eighth Grader Sophie Sanders Named National Champion
Sugar Valley Rural Charter School FFA member and eighth-grade student Sophie Sanders has earned the title of National Champion in the Middle School Career Skills Contest at the National Invitational Contest, an event endorsed by the National FFA.
Competing against students from across the nation, Sophie demonstrated exceptional problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and professionalism throughout the competition. Her outstanding performance earned her the top spot and showcased the strength of her career and leadership skills.
Sophie ' s achievement reflects her hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. As an eighth-grade student, she has already developed a strong foundation of real-world skills that will serve her well in future educational and career opportunities.
Congratulations to Sophie on this remarkable accomplishment and for representing Sugar Valley Rural Charter School FFA with pride on the national stage!
