The ELKS Teen of the Month Program
Designed to recognize outstanding young men and women for achievements in school and community life, here are the Bellefonte Area High School Elks Teens of the Month from January to March of this year:
January: Haley Way’ s resume is exceptional. She has taken several AP and Honors courses during her high school career. In addition to stellar grades, Haley has also displayed a curiosity and passion for learning. What sets Haley apart is not only her ability to excel, but also her unwavering curiosity. She approaches challenges with enthusiasm and persistence, qualities that will propel her toward continued success. Haley is a natural leader and thoughtful collaborator. She has participated in several community-based events through the National Honor Society. Her ability to balance academic rigor with community involvement is inspiring and speaks to her exceptional character. Haley Way embodies the qualities of a well-rounded individual: intellectual curiosity, perseverance, and integrity.
February: Austin Smith embodies the qualities of a well-rounded individual. Academically, he has demonstrated exceptional dedication, taking on the challenge of five AP courses during high school. This rigorous coursework reflects his commitment to intellectual growth and ability to achieve academic success. He has maintained an outstanding academic record, showcasing discipline and a curiosity for learning. Austin has proven to be a remarkable athlete. A varsity member of soccer and lacrosse teams, he has displayed incredible talent, leadership, and teamwork. His ability to balance the demands of high-level athletics with rigorous coursework is a reflection of his time management skills and determination. Respected for his sportsmanship, work ethic, and encouragement of others, Austin Smith is a young leader who will continue to inspire others and make meaningful contributions to society.
March: Alannah McNichol is an incredible student and an even better person- hardworking, compassionate, and dedicated to making a difference in her school and community. Hardworking, she pushes herself with challenging courses, showing her dedication to learning and a future in healthcare. She tackles complex ideas with curiosity, eager to learn more. Alannah’ s impact goes beyond the classroom. She’ s a leader in multiple school organizations, including the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Class Cabinet. She’ s also involved with our Mini-THON team, dedicating her time to raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research. Her ability to balance all of these commitments while maintaining high academic standards speaks to her drive and time management skills. Alannah is also a talented athlete. She competes in lacrosse, cheerleading, and competition cheer at the district level, earning both personal and team achievements along the way. More importantly, she’ s a team player- someone who uplifts those around her and serves as a mentor to younger athletes.
