Our season is well underway

The Men ’ s Club season is well underway with us now having played our second Men ’ s Night Out , a two-day Spring Handicap and the Memorial Day Couples event in May .
MASON Member Hole-In-One
Bill Moir made a Hole-In- One on Yellow 2 during Men ’ s Club play on May 31 . As Bill tells it , a Titleist rep had a ball display under a canopy when you walked off the Yellow 1 green . The rep lectured on what Titleist ball was best and gave him two Pro V1X balls to try . He marked the ball with his red dots , teed it up on 2 yellow and hit it in the hole ! This was Bill ’ s first Hole-In-One in Charbonneau but his fourth overall . He started playing golf in 1970 while in the Navy and this was his first in the last 10 years !
In case you don ’ t know who Bill is , he took the lead several years ago in getting Golf Genius up and running here in Charbonneau . He also led the team of volunteers for both the men and ladies club to implement the program for the first several years . Bill has now stepped aside to let others operate the program and apparently used the time to work on his golf game !
This is the second Hole-In-One this year with Glen Ferguson having made one last December . The Men ’ s Club rewards those who make a Hole- In-One during the 12-month season with a cash reward split evenly between the winners .

Rules guy : Are you allowed to touch your ball on the green after you lift your mark ?
The answer to this question is no , but there are some nuances to this question . “ Rotating ” the ball on the putting green without a mark is considered “ lifting ” under Rule 14.4 and you only get the right to lift the ball after you mark it .
Interestingly there are two acceptable ways to mark your ball on the green : Rule14.1a gives you the option of using a ball marker or holding a club on the ground next to your ball . You can even hold your putter with your right hand and adjust the line with your left .

club across town . However , over the years she benefitted from instruction by teaching professionals here at Charbonneau . She told me that “ longevity and a body that stood up to playing golf ” are keys to her success . She said that she feels blessed and grateful to be able to play golf . “ I really love golf . It is a wonderful sport for women .” I personally hope I get to play with Susan this year . Maybe she will give me some golfing tips !
The 2023 tournaments have begun ! Who will make the list of 2023 champions ? We will have the results of the Partners Tournament on June 15 , too late for this publication . The Handicap Tournament is next up on July 13-14 . The Club Championship is the last of the three and will begin on Sept . 14 with a shotgun start tee time at 8:30 a . m . The Sept . 15 shotgun tee time start at 12 p . m . followed by awards . To qualify for the Club Championship , members must have eight rounds of sanctioned golf recorded .
While we honor our past and current champions , we also want to acknowledge the 1973 CLGA members and 2023 CWGA members , pictured in this article , who worked hard to improve their skills and experience small wins along the way !
