New column adds a little humor to the Villager

This is a new column which starts this month that hopefully will add a bit of humor to your lives . This first column is comprised of the lowest form of humor — the pun . Here we go : 1 . Dad . Are we pyromaniacs ? Yes , we arson . 2 . What do you call a pig with laryngitis ? Disgruntled . 3 . Writing my name in cursive is my signature move . 4 . Just so everyone ’ s clear , I ’ m going to put my glasses on . 5 . I lost my job as a stage designer . I left without making a scene .

6 . Why is it unwise to share your secrets with a clock ? Well , time will tell . 7 . Scientists got together to study the effects of alcohol on a person ’ s walk , and the results were staggering . 8 . I ’ m trying to organize a hide and seek tournament but good players are hard to find . 9 . I got over my addiction to chocolate , marshmallows and nuts . I won ’ t lie , it was a rocky road . 10 . Prison is just one word to you , but , for some people , it ’ s a whole sentence . 11 . When I told my contractor I didn ’ t want carpeted steps , they gave me a blank stare . 12 . I ’ ve started telling everyone about the benefits of eating dried grapes . It ’ s all about raisin awareness . 13 . What did the surgeon say to the patient who insisted on closing up their incision ? Suture self . 14 . I went to the toy store and asked the assistant where the Schwarzenegger dolls are and he replied Aisle B , back . 15 . Bono and the Edge walk into a bar in Dublin and the bartender says “ oh no , not U2 again .”

STITCHES , an active Charbonneau group of textile hobbyists , is hosting a oneday event from 10 a . m . to 3 p . m . on Friday , Aug . 11 . We are inviting our Charbonneau neighbors to visit us , see our hand-made work and learn about our outreach .

While many of our fully-displayed quilts are strictly for viewing , some will be for sale by the makers and others will be designated as donations to select organizations in our caregiving community .

In addition to all of the quilt viewing , we will be selling some hand-made items such as therapeutic dog bandanas , microwave tortilla cookers and hand knit caps ( cash or check only .) Money raised will be used for our community outreach supplies .

The display and fair will be held at the Charbonneau Village HOA ’ s newly-renovated

The quilts pictured are for children and adults experiencing illness , loss or trauma . Recipients will be given a quilt that becomes their own . The need is great and we stitchers will continue using our hands to bless their hearts .
