READING TO YOUR CHILD

There are tremendous benefits to your child ’ s cognitive and language growth , as well as their social emotional intelligence , when you take the time to sit them in your lap and read aloud everyday . Here is a winner of a read aloud from our bookshelf on the topics of discussing our fears . It ’ s a classic already by Mo Williams , “ The Pigeon has to Go to School ”. All of us benefit when we can learn from characters we identify with in literature . It is helpful to start the discussion with your preschooler on a variety of topics that the Pigeon , Pete the Cat or the Bad Seed or your favorite hero may find themselves in . Another book if your child is ready for further vocabulary development is “ Theo Thesaurus ” by Shelli Johannes .
