61st Cave of Nerja Festival

The 61st edition of the Cave of Nerja International Music Festival 2022 takes place this month from July 21 to 30 .
The performances within the Cave of Nerja itself are now a thing of the past . For reasons of conservation of this impressive place , the five concerts of this Nerja Festival will take place in the Manuel de Campo Auditorium , in the outdoor gardens . All concerts will start from 22:30 .

This year there are two essential innovations : a new auditorium and an increased capacity . This 61st festival with a music auditorium in the outdoor gardens that , for the first time , will bear the name of one of the promoters of the contest over the years , from now on it will be called : " Manuel del Campo Music Auditorium ", as approved in the Plenary Meeting of the Cave of Nerja Foundation . Secondly , in this new edition the festival has expanded its capacity to 2,445 people . who are going to intervene and for the staging that - on this occasion - will have very interesting new technologies that will allow attendees to enjoy an extraordinary experience ".
The Manager of the Cave of Nerja , José María Domínguez , has offered a few words , he has expressed his joy that this festival has been able to return in a new edition , after the Covid-19 crisis .
The presentation of the programme was attended by the Vice President of the Junta de Andalucía and Minister of Tourism , Juan Marín . In addition , representatives of the Board of Trustees of the Cave of Nerja also attended – such as the Territorial Delegate of Culture in Malaga , Carmen Casero ; the Territorial Delegate of Tourism in Malaga , Nuria Rodríguez , and the 2nd Vice-President of diputación de Málaga , Natacha Rivas- ; of different administrations and the promoter of the entity , Mainake Music , of Grupo Mundo .
We especially highlight the presence of the discoverer of the caves , Miguel Muñoz - as a representative of those whose discovery made everything possible - and Manuel del Campo , patron of the Public Foundation of Services Cave of Nerja to whom the Festival owes so much .
The President of the Cave of Nerja , Javier Salas , has highlighted in his interventions the satisfaction for the return of the festival Salas pointed out that : " The members of the Foundation he represents feel grateful and happy for the return of this musical meeting , since it is one of the most pioneering and long-lived festivals in Andalusia , as evidenced by its 61 editions ".
He has also described it as special , since : " We have not been able to celebrate it for 2 years and to come to the 61st Cave of Nerja Music Festival is to support this Foundation . An entity that is self-financing by itself , without receiving any subsidy , and that has had very hard times during the pandemic ."
