Roadside markets attract local customers , tourists

At 197 S . Route 73 , Fiorentino ’ s Farm Market owner Justin Arndt said his grandfather started selling local produce in the 1970s .
“ We try to make it as clean and fresh and organized and convenient for the customer as possible ,” Arndt said .
Along with selling produce , such as apples , bananas , corn , cotton candy grapes , watermelon and more , Fiorentino ’ s Farm Market also sells local honey , jam jellies and baked goods that customers love .
“ They love the Shady Maple [ Bakery ]. They hound at me everyday I come . Now I try to keep a nice stock of it ,” Arndt said .
Ron ’ s Gardens on 959 14th
Street has a variety of plants , flowers , hanging baskets and gardening decor .
“ My son started it in my backyard ,” Ron Fisher Sr . said .
On the Atlantic City Expressway , Ron ’ s Gardens Farley Farm Market has a Jersey Fresh stand with produce such as peppers , tomatoes , blueberries , peaches , squash , cucumbers and more flowers .
“ In the fall , we ’ ll have mums and fall plants , and then right up to Christmas we ’ ll have poinsettias ,” Ron Fisher Sr . said .
Stephen Calcese , the owner of Nick ’ s Seafood and The Green Thumb Garden Center both located at 3750 S . White Horse Pike , said it was a good year for softshell crabs .
