RIP Paco
04.04.1965 - 15.06.2021 We were contacted by a reader in the UK , Roger Harvey who asked us to pass on the following . Roger has visited Nerja for many years and always goes to Burriana Beach when on holiday here . He always visits the same part of the beach ( in front of Merendero Jose Cruz ) and he sadly discovered last month that his very good friend Francisco Ramos Munoz , ( known as Paco to many ) had sadly passed away having contracted Covid . The new menu offers homemade cakes and pies and the ever-popular breakfasts are still available . Major sports events will be shown inside the bar and there is now a pool table . See their advertisement opposite .
Sea cleaners
A fleet of cleaning boats is now in operation along the beaches of Nerja , Torrox , Algarrobo and Vélez-Málaga . The 12 craft operate from 11am every day of the week clearing rubbish , including jellyfish , from the water closest to the coastline . The service will continue until September 15 .
Nerja Amateur Theatre Festival
The Cultural Centre is hosting a new edition of the Villa de Nerja Amateur Theater Festival . It was presented this morning by the Councilor for Culture , visiting the different avatars of the life of the poet .
Laguna ended by inviting neighbours and visitors to come to the Villa de Nerja Cultural Centre and enjoy these fun plays that the Department of Culture of the Nerja Town Hall has prepared for this amateur theatre festival .
Drawings . Children ' s Painting Studio
As every year and at the end of term , the Study of Children ’ s Painting prepares an exhibition to show a selection of the
works of its students . On this occasion they are exhibited in the hall of the Villa de Nerja Cultural Centre where they can be visited from June 22 to July 31 . the beach for 36 years . This is devastating news to many who knew Paco ( pictured ). Roger decided to set up a Just Giving group in the UK which he posted on Facebook and when he contacted Soltalk it was standing at £ 2,360 - an incredible response . He plans to have a Plaque made in the UK which his daughter Rachel will take over to Claudia ( Paco ’ s daughter ) and the remaining funds are to be given to Claudia at some point soon when travel to Spain from the UK is permitted . Changes at Coach and Horses
The Coach and Horses in Calle El Barrio Nerja is introducing lots of changes for the coming summer months .
Free tapas with each drink are now available from 3pm to 5pm and they have also introduced takeaway beach snacks . There is a choice of sandwiches or wraps with a salad or fruit salad , a bag of crisps and a soft drink or juice .
Gema Laguna , accompanied by the actor José María Rico and the IES El Chaparil professor , Antonio Parras , highlighting that “ this festival has been held since our Cultural Centre was inaugurated , where fans of the theatre of our municipality and nearby towns have been able to represent their works in our auditorium ”. All the performances will begin at 8pm and the entrance fee will be € 5 .
In this XXIII edition we will have three comedy theatrical works , which will begin on Thursday , July 1 , with Amoríos y otros mesos by Candilejas Teatro , directed by the actresses of the Veleña company María Zambrano , Ana Ortiz and María José Ruiz .
On Friday , July 2 , it will be Saldensayo ' s turn with his work How bad is knowing , where Anai de Miguel and José María Rico present us a fun romantic comedy , about love and heartbreak , with text and direction by Isabel Cabrera .
Finally , on Saturday , July 3 , the El Chaparil Group will close the festival with the classic work The Last Metamorphosis of Ovid , where 2nd year Latin and Greek high school students will make us travel to the mythical past of the Greco-Latin heroes and gods ,
The drawings on display are the result of learning how to use charcoal and tempera , which are the techniques used in the study of children ’ s painting , and of the overflowing imagination of little artists whose ages are between 4 and 8 years old . In this way , the imagination of the little ones is encouraged , when they see their drawings displayed on the walls of the Centre .
This exhibition concludes the course and it is announced that the registration for the next 21-22 can be done in September . Visiting hours are from 10am to 2pm and from 5pm to 9pm .
