ON THE RANGE / ON THE COURSE

Thoughts & Tips on Practicing & Playing

ON THE COURSE : THINGS SOME GOLFERS DO THAT ANNOY GOLFERS THEY ’ RE PLAYING WITH !

I often get asked by students what are some things I shouldn ’ t do when on the golf course . Good etiquette is more than how you mark your ball on the green or not walking through someone ’ s putting line . There are also some general things a golfer may either not know or realize they are doing , making your playing partners a little annoyed .
Standing over the ball too long :
It ’ s your turn to hit your tee shot and you ’ re over the ball . Suddenly , you freeze or re-set yourself multiple times over the ball for what seems like a really long time . Certainly , we never want someone to rush to hit their shot , but once you have set-up over the ball and put the club behind the ball ; take one look at the target line and then make your swing .
Talking when others are hitting :
This is a classic , but understandably important . Golf is a game on concentration for those 15-20 seconds you ’ re over the ball and hitting your shot . Be mindful to do your best to stay quiet while others in your group are hitting shots .
Bad temper :
Yes , golf is a game that at times can get frustrating , but no one wants to play golf with someone with a bad temper . Throwing clubs , kicking the golf cart or in general being in a bad mood because you ’ re not playing well , is not fun for the others in your group .
