The Craft: Rhode Island
It’s time to raise a cold one for some local filmmakers. The award-winning craft beer documentary The Craft: Rhode Island will be released on DVD and Video
On Demand across the country starting July 2. The film highlights the growth of the local brewing scene and tells the history of some of Rhode Island’s first
breweries, including Narragansett Beer, as well as relative newcomers like Proclamation Ale, Providence Brewing Company and LineSider. The film will be
available on Cox and Verizon as well as streaming services including Amazon, and the DVD contains bonus footage. Co-producers and siblings Dave Ricci,
Chris Ricci and Beth Ricci as well as Nick Charello, all co-owners of media production company Eleven Design, worked together to film footage at the
breweries. It’s always a good time to support local beer, but especially now, after the pandemic hit small businesses hard. “A report conducted by the Brewers
Association suggested that nearly 40 percent of the breweries in the country won’t survive another three months under these conditions,” Dave Ricci says.
“By the time of the movie release, if that number is true, we will have lost over 3,000 breweries across the country.” He hopes the film will help the local
brewing industry and Rhode Island tourism, since many people plan trips around visiting breweries. “I know that I will be trying to support as many of these
folks as I can because I want them to be around when things normalize,” Ricci says. “We need to do all we can to keep them going.” eleven-ri.com/craft
