S&T is continuing its laboratory research.
Among other efforts in the battle
against COVID-19, S&T produces
the Master Questions List
(MQL), which summarizes scientific
research to determine what is
known about the virus and
what additional
information is
needed, and has
produced two decay
calculators
that can help determine
the lifespan
of the virus
on surfaces and
in the air under
varied environmental
conditions.
National Threats Hazards and
Risks (PANTHR) program, which
strengthens customer engagement
within the homeland security
enterprise by aligning chemical,
biological, radiological, and
nuclear (CBRN) hazard awareness
and characterization activities,
and are updated regularly
as additional data become available.
The ability to treat an FFR with moist heat at 149 °F (65 °C) for
30 minutes up to 10 times has been reported by one manufacturer
for some FFR models (3M 1804, 3M 1860, 3M 1870+, and
3M 8210). DHS S&T has demonstrated that this process does not
degrade performance after five cycles for four mask models (3M
1860, 3M 8210, 3M 8511, NS 7210).
