CLUBCARRAISESNEAR$1M
for United Way of the Central Savannah River Area in Georgia (CRSA)
Some might say, it is only a game of golf. But it’s
so much more and there are thousands of peo-
ple who can attest to that by way of the United
Way of the Central Savannah River Area in Geor-
gia (CRSA) – Club Car’s partner and beneficiary in
their annual Golf Charity Classic.
For the past seven years Club Car’s United Way
Golf Charity Classic has continued its traditional
mix of fun and fundraising at nearby Champions
Retreat Golf Course in Evans, Georgia, raising
more than $946,367 and helping thousands in
the community. Last year alone, 218,000 local
residents were assisted by one or more of UWCS-
RA’s 44 programs and initiatives.
The funds raised on the golf course have played
a hand in providing affordable housing and sup-
port services for women with mental health and
substance use disorders, who would not be able
to afford recovery options otherwise. In addition
children are able to live with their mothers while
undergoing services so these women don’t have

to make a choice of being mothers or seeking
help - they can do both.
“These funds will continue to provide counseling
services to improve and strengthen individuals
and families; a vital component to enhancing our
communities,” said Kim Grimes, Senior Resource
Development Manager of United Way of the
CSRA, Inc.
This year’s event held June 4 at Champions Re-
treat brought in a record-high $165,000.
“Club Car’s relationship with the United Way is
a great example of how corporations and their
employees can join forces with community orga-
nizations like the United Way and make a real dif-
ference,” said Robert McElreath, Club Car United
Way Golf Tournament sponsor. “Many volunteers
and participants come together each year to give
back and because of their generous spirit
they are enhancing peoples’ lives by way of
one annual golf tournament.”
