PEOPLE • P LAC E S • PRODUCTS • POTEN T I AL Manufacturing Indaba: Declaration E manating from 2 days of discussions at the inaugural Manufacturing Indaba hosted on the 19th & 20th May 2014 at Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni, a formal Declaration has been developed. The City of Ekurhuleni, the Manufacturing Circle, Deloitte South Africa, Productivity SA, Proudly SA, SEIFSA and NCPCSA acknowledge the need to collaborate and partner towards a common goal. The economy is confronted with increased global and domestic structural deficit, productivity and competitiveness constraints that are magnified by the triple developmental challenges (namely Poverty, Unemployment and Inequality) which have a direct impact on the manufacturing sector. They also acknowledge the strategic contribution of the manufacturing sector to the South African economy, and challenges faced by the sector, and will use their best endeavours to: 1. Promote national interest imperatives for the development of the manufacturing sector in South Africa. 2. Work towards growing the South African Manufacturing sector in conjunction with African and other emerging market counterparts. 3. Grow existing and new value chains to encourage inward investment and local procurement. 4. Promote good corporate citizenry at every level. 5. Promote human development with p 'F
