Midas franchise | by Tristan Wiggill Dynamism in the dunes ➲ The Midas wing at the Windhoek branch CYMOT (derived from CYcle and MOTor spares) is a privately owned Namibian company, which was founded in 1948. Since then it has grown to become a leader in supplying quality products to its customers through its distribution network of branches within Namibia as well as in South Africa and Angola. With so many years of history, further enhanced by a young and dynamic team led by Axel, it’s no wonder the Cymot Midas brand has become a household name. - Gerhard Braun; Midas franchise director ➲ aBr saw the CYMOT machine in action during the 2013 CYMOT Tradeshow A s the registered franchisee of Midas - since 1986 - for Namibia and the southern area of Angola, CYMOT has an affiliation with the National Automobile Parts Association (NAPA) of South Africa. This affiliation gives it significant buying power, with the Midas division establishing itself as the market leader where quality automotive spare parts and accessories are concerned. The extensive product range carried by CYMOT Midas covers just about all domestic passenger and commercial vehicle types. CYMOT is, amongst others, the sole Namibian agent for world brand automotive products, including the likes of Exide batteries and Bosal car exhaust systems, roll bars and tow bars, Fram filters and Monroe shock absorbers, to name a few. Product replenishment is done from a central warehouse via a sophisticated process within 24 hours, so that the correct product is available at the right place and at the right time. CYMOT also utilises an advanced system for the sourcing and ordering of new products to ensure that the latest products can be offered to its customers. The CYMOT product range includes over 25 000 line items, which are grouped under the divisions; Midas automotive spares and accessories, Greensport fishing, cycling and outdoor gear, Tooltech workshop tools and equipment, Namsafe personal protective equipment and Colour Perfect automotive refinish products. “We pride ourselves that our trained staff offers superior customer care and go the extra mile in advising and assisting the customer to choose from a variety of quality products,” says CYMOT CEO Axel Thiessen. “If you think quality products and friendly service, you think CYMOT,” he adds. Thiessen says CYMOT’s biggest asset is its people and it continuously endeavours to provide the training and support for every staff member to grow and realise his/her potential. “The workplace environment is structured to ensure safe and healthy working conditions where the individual employee is encouraged to pursue his or her ambition,” he explains. | words in action 42 july 2014 ➲ Celebrating the 64th Anniversary of CYMOT and the brand in Namibia, management recently decided to include the registered trade mark logo and the lettering “Since 1948” with the CYMOT logo Thiessen believes that the young management team is dynamic and well qualified to lead the company towards achieving its objectives and says significant emphasis has been placed during the last number of years on succession planning and manpower development. With a strong brand behind it and with years of experience to boot, there is little to suggest that the CYMOT Midas success story won’t continue.
