2016-17 Artist in Residence Series
The Dubuque Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded in 1969 by a dedicated
group of individuals who wanted to bring
outstanding performers from many artistic
disciplines to perform into the Dubuque
Community Schools to provide inspiration for young people as they experience
professionals they normally wouldn’t see.
Their mission is to provide diverse, multidisciplinary, artistic, and educational opportunities to expand cultural horizons and
improve the quality of life.
Since 1975, The Dubuque Arts Council has
connected professionals in the performing
arts with elementary and middle school
students through live performances at area
public and parochial schools. This year,
over 20,000 students in Dubuque, Western
Dubuque, Bellevue, IA; Hazel Green, WI;
Galena, and East Dubuque, IL districts will
experience a variety of music and dance
residencies.
Artists have been selected by the Dubuque
Arts Council because of their reputations
as outstanding performers who also excel
in relating to youth while educating and
entertaining. For more information, visit
