DUBUQUE AREA ARTS COLLECTIVE ( DAAC )
The Dubuque Area Arts Collective , 902 Main St ., Dubuque , is a community organization that facilitates young artists ’ creative development by providing instructive , performance , and leadership opportunities in preparation for careers in the arts industry . Their main goals are to raise the profile of young emerging artists in Dubuque , to motivate them to pursue their creative interests , to encourage them to gain experience through volunteer work , to strengthen their skills through free tutoring and workshops , and to enable them to participate in the community ’ s art affairs . Illuminating Stories Ongoing through October 8 This exhibit explores illustration across its ever-changing contexts . The exhibit will be on display at the Dubuque Ink and Art Expo , and then will be moved to the Dubuque Area Arts Collective ’ s art gallery for Fall Into Art .
DUBUQUE COUNTY FINE ARTS SOCIETY ( DCFAS )
For more than a third of a century , the Dubuque County Fine Arts Society ( DC- FAS ) has served the Dubuque community providing free or low-cost arts experiences to both artists and audiences . Founded in 1976 by like-minded art-lovers and educators , the Fine Arts Society flourished under the leadership of founding members , Ruth and Russ Nash , growing into a broad-based , nonprofit arts organization with a variety of affiliate groups and programs . DBQ One Acts ( formerly Dubuque Fine Arts Players ) Established in 1977 , Dubuque Fine Arts Players ’ one-act play contest is the oldest in the United States . Trainwreck Productions ( TWP ) Trainwreck Productions aspires to produce the best damn found-space theatre and promote young theatre artists in Dubuque , IA . Their Halloween cabaret and variety show fundraiser , All Hallow ’ s Eve Revue , takes place October 19 , 7:30 p . m . at The Smokestack , 62 E . 7th Street . 2017 plays and musical will be announced throughout the year . Elisha Darlin Arts Award The Annual Elisha Darlin Arts Award honors a person or persons who have made outstanding contributions to the arts in Dubuque .
Mississippi River Arts Workshop ( MRAW ) Mississippi River Arts Workshop was organized in late 2014 by a group of Dubuque-area artists and arts supporters whose goal is to create art experiences for artists that explore and capitalize on natural and man-created beauty .
