CALENDAR OF EVENTS GALENA HALLOWEEN PARADE & FESTIVAL SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29 1-10 PM (6:30 PM, PARADE) @ DOWNTOWN GALENA, IL Enjoy the 38th annual, nearly two-hour, famous Halloween parade. The popular event promises to be as enjoyable as in years past, featuring spectacular floats, local marching bands, candy galore, and many costumed participants. Returning this year will be hot air balloons lighting up Main Street as they make their way through the parade. A Children’s Fun Fest with treats, games, and booths will be held at the Galena Middle School Gymnasium from 1:00-4:00 p.m.; admission is $2 per person. The Halloween Festival with food and entertainment takes place at 2:00 p.m. on both Washington and Perry Streets. The parade will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street. To accommodate the high volume of parade goers, free shuttle buses will operate from 2:00-6:30 p.m. and 8:30-10:00 p.m. at the WalMart and Galena High School parking lots to the Old Post Office downtown. The Wundos will be playing 8:00 p.m. to midnight. This is the primary fundraiser for Dickeyville’s advanced EMS volunteer service to purchase new equipment and provide training to personnel. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Admission is $6.
