sisted living and memory care facilities,
worked with the Alzheimer’s Association,
participated in the Alzheimer’s Speaks
radio show, and attended conferences…
all in an effort to inform families about the
value of puzzles as a kind of reminiscence
activity. For every 15 and 30 piece puzzle
sold using the POP product code, there is a
$2 discount and a $10 donation is made to
the Alzheimer’s Association.
Data from the National Institute on Aging
and the Alzheimer’s Association suggest
that as many as 5.2 million Americans have
Alzheimer’s disease. Today, an American
develops Alzheimer’s every 68 seconds. In
2050, it is anticipated that an American will
develop the disease every 33 seconds. The
risk of Alzheimer’s disease increases with
age and it is well known that our population
is aging. The Census Bureau reports that
there are currently 39 million Americans
age 65 and older, up from 25.5 just 30
years ago.

For those with dementia, puzzles can
provide relaxation, social stimulation and
conversation. Please reach out to those
whose days may be brightened by puzzles
that provide pleasure, comfort, and fond
memories of days gone by. We now, more
than ever, treasure dad’s puzzles. v
