RIVER SOJOURN FT. SOUNDSCAPES
Begins Saturday, May 7
10 AM-5 PM (Tues.-Fri.) & 1-4 PM
(Sat.-Sun.) @ Dubuque Museum of Art
This exhibit is the winnowed result of artist Sara Lubinski’s years of experiences
throughout the Blufflands, a record of her
adventures, and the creative spirit inspired
by the land. It gives evidence of the beauty
and diversity of natural places and of special habitats preserved by individuals and
by state and federal organizations. It celebrates land preserved, and brings attention
to the need for us to take care of the land.
The exhibit is accompanied by Shawn Decker’s electro-kinetic soundscapes, revealing
the uncanny relationship between nature
and the machine. Inspired by the dissonant
and harsh sounds of avant-garde compositions of twentieth-century Futurism, the
artist uses industrial materials to create
music of the machine age. Regular museum
admission rates apply. Visit DbqArt.com.
