In conjunction with the 39th annual DubuqueFest Fine Arts Festival, the Dubuque Area
Writers Guild is excited to announce that it will be publishing the 38th edition of its Gallery
book project. This year’s publication, Shapes, will be an open-genre anthology showcasing
the art and writing of Dubuquers and those with ties to the Dubuque area. Writers of all
ages may submit fiction, non-fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, and memoir pieces. Writers selected for publication may be invited to read at a reception to celebrate the launch
of the anthology, which will be held during DubuqueFest. For submission guidelines, email

Kohl Crecelius, CEO and co-founder of the
non-profit company Krochet Kids Intl., delivers the Mackin-Mailander Featured Lecture. Krochet Kids currently employs 150
women in Uganda and 30 women in Peru,
pairing work with mentorship and education to build sustainable opportunities and
investment in local communities. Crecelius
will talk about how Krochet Kids has created a sustainable cycle of employment
and empowerment where it is most needed.
