A LOOK INSIDE by Gina Siegert
I ’ m not sure if it is a gut reaction from the unprecedented , foul presidential campaign and recent election , or how family matters can turn all that is right into a tailspin . But this holiday , more then I can remember , my sincere hope is … a wish of peace and joy . I mean , listening to each verse and chorus of traditional Christmas songs are having a much different impact this year . I think Iknow what inspired the Christmas carol , God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen . When we were gone astray O tidings of comfort and joy , Comfort and joy O tidings of comfort and joy Yeah , I get it .
As our December issue goes to press I am looking forward to accepting the past , cooking and merry making , creating new traditions and reliving the old , and all the memories of great times and family celebrations . And this Christmas I ’ ll gladly anticipate celebration of the birth of the Prince of Peace . He is still sorely needed I hope you enjoy our December issue . We take a different approach to our feature section and highlight a few of the unique people behind some of the local products and places we shop , especially for gifts . When was the last time you saw actually saw the creature whose fleece produced your warm hat , scarf , or mittens ? Inside this issue , Melinda Dalgarn took a few trips to talk to Sara Freund , owner of Yarn Soup and Julien ’ s Journal also visited Mike and Julie Delaney , of Irish Meadows Alpaca Farm . I think you will find purpose and joy in each of their stories and goods they produce and sell . We also include the “ Voices of Christmas ” stories and poetry from our readers , many with a personal touch . I wish we had the pages to share with you all the wonderful contributions we received , but we just don ’ t have room in the magazine for all of them ., but each contribution is appreciated . The Julien ’ s Journal is part of my daily joy , frustration , anticipation , and , most of all , a very fulfilled and vibrant aspect of my life . I love opening doors and bringing to the forefront the people and institutions that make our lives better . This has made a real difference on my own viewpoints and desire to get out there and help . The proof is in the pudding , as they say . Julien ’ s Journal has allowed me the opportunity to move positive change forward and reap its many rewards . Before I end my column , I want to thank an advertiser who has been with Julien ’ s Journal since the beginning . Ken Briden is retiring at the end of the year from Briden Piano Service , leaving his piano business in the good hands of his son . We hope Ken finds new horizons ahead . Finally the days , weeks , and months seem to move faster then ever and I find myself looking back at parents , children , grandchildren , and changes that come with age and our individual view of happiness . I hope you find the upcoming year fulfilling and even more exciting . Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year .
Remember to check our website , facebook and social media for updates on the events and ticket sales you love to go to . Also , look for more stories and poems from our Voices of Christmas .
