inter’ s shorter days, colder mornings and dark evenings can do more than disrupt your routine – they can affect your mood, too.“ Our bodies and moods are heavily impacted by the amount of sunlight we are exposed to,” explains Sahra O’ Doherty, registered psychologist and president of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc.
“[ During winter ], we’ re experiencing less daylight, leaving for work when it’ s darker, and coming home after sunset,” she says. As a result, our habits shift over time. That might look like skipping your usual walk, choosing heavy comfort food over balanced meals, or spending more time indoors and alone, all of which can have a significant knock-on effect when it comes to how you feel. >
