Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia, increasing at a faster rate than other chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer. All types of diabetes are increasing in prevalence with more than 300 Australians developing the disease every day. That’ s one person every five minutes. National Diabetes Week, which will be observed from 9 – 15 July this year, was established in 2015 to shine a spotlight on the prevalence of diabetes in the community, the common signs to watch out for and to help raise awareness of the disease.
