Where ’ s WARHOL ?

Andy Warhol , one of the most famous artists of our time is remembered greatly mainly for his stunning and recognisable illustrations .
He has had an incredibly inspiring life from a very young age as he was diagnosed with ‘ Sydenham ’ s Corea ’ meaning he was bed-bound most of the time and to entertain himself he found an interest in drawing and collecting posters . After doing this for so many years and becoming even more talented he built up his own artistic style which developed in him having a career being a commercial illustrator .
He became a fine artist in the 1950s which is when he started exhibiting his work resulting in him becoming popular and well known in the industry .
Warhol was not only interested in drawing but also had a special talent for film-making , painting and photography making him an all rounder in the industry that people grew to love and recognise through his distinctive style and taste .
‘ What ’ s great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest . You can be watching TV and see
Coca-Cola , and you know that the President drinks Coca-Cola , Liz Taylor drinks Coca-Cola , and just think , you can drink Coca-Cola , too .”
Warhol had a fun and different approach to learning which is represented well in the film ‘*’ which is shown through the type of work he creates . He is known for embracing and celebrating mistakes and making them not a hinderance in his work but instead part of it which is what made his artwork different to others .
We are delighted to hear that between the 16th of October 2015 and 31st of January 2016 Peterborough Museum will be showcasing Andy Warhol ’ s work for the first time . Being one of the most inspirational and popular artists of the twentieth century it would be silly to miss it ! The museum states “ we look forward to developing our relationships with local audiences , particularly young people through a focused , complementary learning programme .”
