On arrival to the outside market , you are greeted with market stalls mostly selling bona fide Jamaican string vests and vegetables with a backing track of reggae music to happily bop along to . It is when you go into the inside Village market that you capture the essence of the transformation from the outside . It is as if walking through the doorway into the inside market you have walked through a magic wardrobe into a multicultural community . With the variation of cafe ’ s and restaurants from all corners of the globe you are spoilt for choice , each with a strong ethnic heritage and beyond friendly staff who were not opposed to me photographing their humble abodes .
This little market comes alive in the night time with live music that can be appreciated from the artistically presented cake shops to the bars and restaurants scattered around , inhabited by the culturally diverse and city workers who have taken to the promising neighbourhood . Feeling proud and patriotic of this London location , I felt it only right to stop off for dinner at Honest Burger , selling British produce in a very small , cosy rustic environment , true to the pop up feel of Brixton Village Market . Having full faith in the quality being able to watch everything being cooked in the open flat top grill , The London Evening Standard featuring them in the ‘ Top 20 best burgers in London ’ and with burger prices starting at as little as £ 8 ( with chips ) it is 100 % recommended as a
place to eat . Their brilliant attention to detail , from homemade lemonade being served in glass jars to your bill presented in little old fashioned tins this place has an undeniably cool ambience that fits right into its surroundings .
Bordering amazing music venues like the O2 Academy and Electric Brixton , all accessible by various transports links from anywhere in London , there really is no excuse to not experience Brixton for yourself . Be sensible , safe and open minded and you ’ ll be guaranteed to enjoy your experience .
