London Collection Men

SPOTLIGHT ON

NEWGEN MEN meet the NEWGENeration of London Collections Men 2015 . Three incredible ready-to-wear menswear designers have joined NEWGEN to show in June ’ s London Collections Men .

London Collections Men is a biannual event that takes place every January and July to showcase the coming season ’ s offerings from each Menswear designer . For Spring Summer 2016 Bobby Abley , Cottweiler and Sebastiaan Pieter have been given backing from NEW- GEN MEN , as sponsored by Topman , to showcase their SS16 Collections at London Collections Men . The three ready-to-wear Menswear brands join the following existing recipients of NEWGEN MEN : Agi & Sam , Alex Mullins , Astrid Anderson , CMMN SWDN , Craig Green , Diego Vanassibara , Kat Neale , Nasir Mazhar and Vidur . Gordon Richardson , Creative Director of TOPMAN said : bagged themselves NEWGEN backing . Since designing FKA Twigs ’ first UK solo tour costumes , the brands Ben Cottrell and Matthew Dainty - collectively known as COTTWEILER - have seen their staple piece the ‘ luxury tracksuit ’ gaining more and more popularity . Concept-led , Cottweiler is seen to be one of the front runners for strong silhouettes and clean lines whilst still pushing the boundaries . For them , SS15 was awash with contemporary sportswear that was realised in fabrics such as mesh , rubber , netting , microfibre in shades of bright white , slate greys and occasional pops of colour to give it a futuristic edge . ‘ Time Shares ’ took us to a future-led , ultramodern place of clean , modern and very

Bobby Abley , who has BIG international success in Asian countries , took Disney ’ s The Little Mermaid into his own ( slightly dark and twisted but not quite as bad as AW14 ) hands once again this Spring Summer . Abley showcased neoprene cuts with iconic characters splashed ( pardon the Ariel pun ) across the sharply tailored two-pieces . Staying true to his brand , his emblematic teddy-bear icon was seen on a few designs accompanied by muted , moody tropical prints . His collections as a whole are always incredibly fun , pairing Disney with sharp cuts and limited colour palettes littered with dashings of pinks and lilacs , but running throughout them something that gives a hint of something dark and sinister - The Disney villain meets London Collections Men . FKA Twigs favoured designer Cottweiler also high fashion sportswear . Sebastiaan Pieter is a 26-yearold Dutch designer who brings us a cool merging of active and sportswear mixed with unconventional tailoring and knit . Since leaving Jil Sander where he worked under Raf Simons , Pieter launched his line in 2014 and is now the latest booking from NEWGEN MEN . His collections take a futuristic nod to his art form via blurring conventional male stereotypes by using ‘ feminine ’ cuts and exploring masculinity using cut , juxtaposition and tailoring . Pieter ’ s Autumn Winter 2015 Lookbook dropped recently and the images are absolutely stunning in a non-conventional , high fashion way . The film accompanying the Lookbook was a collaboration with Dazed Digital and really gives off that ‘ Dazed and Confused ’ vibe .
