After all, who would want to pay with their health, and even their life in some cases, for the sheer lack of attention of the doctors on whom they have bestowed their faith? The story of Sandhya Vaidyanathan is one such heart-wrenching tale of medical negligence. With hopes of embracing motherhood, when Sandhya went to a private hospital in the city to get a simple fertility test done, little did know what was in store for her. The negligence by her doctors cost her a part of her ovary apart from quashing her hopes of being a mother. However, Sandhya was determined not to take it lying down. She started an online petition, seeking support to bring her perpetrators to task. “I’m 29 years old and I love and adore children. My husband and I never wanted to wait to start a family... (but) my dreams were shattered because of the negligence of the doctors who played with my life.
